MOTHER'S DAY!!!
Posted on Jan 1
Mother's Day has got to be my all-time favorite horror flick. I've seen it over 100 times easily... know every line word for word... you name it, I know it about this movie. A true classic in my eyes.

Mother's Day is a 1980 horror film, directed by Charles Kaufman, a brother of Troma Entertainment cofounder Lloyd Kaufman, who served as an associate producer for the film.

PLOT:

The plot begins with the long-time friendship of three women: Abbey (Nancy Hendrickson), Jackie (Deborah Luce) and Trina (Tiana Pierce) who reunite every year to take a camping trip. Once while setting their vacation up in the woods, they find their trip turns into a worst nightmare when they are captured by a group of two partially insane punk/"hill billy" hybrids: Ike (Holdem Mc Guire) and Addley (Billy Ray Mc Quade). The punks lead a comfortable living along with their mentally abnormal Mother (Rose Ross) in an occult hovel situated amidst the wood. All through the movie, their mother goads her sons into acts of rape, violence and murder, who smacks her lips to find the sins going on and on in her own ways of liking. Eventually one of the women is severely brutalized by Ike and Addley, the remaining two escape before she dies from her sustained injuries. They soon regroup, arm themselves, and set out for bloody revenge against Ike, Addley and Mother.

RECEPTION:

Due to its scenes of violence and rape, it is often considered an exploitation film. Although not particularly successful at the time of the release, it was released on DVD in 2000[1] by Troma Entertainment and has garnered a cult following among horror/exploitation fans.
In the UK, the film was rejected by the BBFC in 1980, banning it from sale. In 2006 and again in 2008, the film was shown on the Zone Horror channel, evidently with no cuts. It has still not received a DVD release in the UK, however, making its status there somewhat ambiguous.
Popular comedian Bobby Collins makes an appearance as a motivational speaker.
A one scene uses the hit song I Think We're Alone Now by the 60's pop band Tommy James & the Shondells.

REMAKE!!!

As of 2009, a remake is in the works and it will be produced by Rush Hour director Brett Ratner and directed by Darren Lynn Bousman who also directed Saw II, Saw III, and Saw IV, as well as Repo! The Genetic Opera. It is supposed to be filmed in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Briana Evigan, Alexa Vega and Jaime King have been announced to star.

MEMORABLE QUOTES:

Ernie: And remember, once you go out those doors, don't stop to think about what you feel. Because once you stop to think about what you feel, you doubt what you know. And once you doubt what you know, you're gonna assume you don't know it. Why? Because you don't act on it. Once you know what you know, you act on it.

Senior Citizen at Pool Party: [to a girl] What was it Kubrick said? The manipulation of light and color produces an illusion of profound intensity?
[girl walks away, man stops the next girl that walks by]

Senior Citizen at Pool Party: What was it Kubrick said?

Older man at Pool Party: There are three rules in the film business - Distribution,
distribution, distribution.

Older man at Pool Party: You've got to have gross points. Not net points, but gross points.

Woman at Pool Party: Did you say Grosse Pointe? I'm from Grosse Pointe.

Storekeeper: Don't go messin' up in Deep Barons!

Storekeeper: You'll get what you deserve in them Deep Barons, you lez-beans! You won't be causin' no one no trouble no more!

Abbey: Outside the United States they don't have marshmallows.

Jackie: Then it's like the only really American food. Wow!

Ike: I'm not dumb!
Addley: You're dumb, you like punk!

Addley: It's a beautiful day, you see? You see? You're all alone in the park, sittin' on a park bench, and you're readin' somethin' real good.
Ike: Yeah, like a muscle magazine.

Ike: I'll get the Kodak!

Mother: Ike, you better bolt that door good tonight.
Ike: Ma, there's nobody out there...
Mother: Now you just do what I say! Queenie's out there, I just know it.

[repeated lines]
Addley: Punk sucks!
Ike: Disco's stupid.

Trina: You backwoods, perverted piece of shit!
Ike: Don't you ever say backwoods again! We're city-fied, look around.

Abbey: Jackie, everywhere you turned in life you got shit. Well now we'll do the fighting back for you.

Addley: [using a Ouija board] B-O-T-E... Boat! I got it, ma! Ouija says they're on a boat!

Mother: Addley, you tell your brother Ike a hound dog that comes home with nothing in his mouth should keep it closed.
Addley: [can't remember it all] Ike, ma says a hound dog who comes home... em -- empty handed should keep... keep your big fat mouth shut!

SUPPORT SICK OF IT ALL! WORLDWIDE HARDCORE LEGENDS!
Posted on Oct 13
These guys have payed their dues a LONG time ago! Bringing Hardcore around the world for over 2 decades!!! Cool, down to earth guys, no rock star fantasies, and most importantly... no ego! Give respect where respect is due... if there is any band that deserves your support and respect... it's Sick Of It All!

Early Career (1986 to 1992)

Hailing from Queens, New York, Sick of It All was formed alongside New York hardcore bands Straight Ahead, and Rest In Pieces which both featured Armand Majidi and current Sick of It All bass player Craig Setari. Majidi joined up with the Koller brothers and Rich Cipriano to record the Sick of It All demo in 1986, after original bass player Mark McNielly and drummer David Lamb left. The band began to play Sunday afternoon matinees at renowned venue CBGB's, and soon after released a self-titled 7 inch on Revelation Records (which was later re-issued on the tenth anniversary of its release in 1997).

In 1988, Sick of It All signed to Relativity Records and recorded their first full-length, Blood, Sweat and No Tears, which was released in the following year. The album's follow-up, Just Look Around, was released in 1992.

Rising Popularity (1993 to 1997)

Sick of It All released their record Scratch the Surface on major label EastWest Records. They also recorded a video for 'Step Down' and the title track 'Scratch The Surface'. The record was the first recorded with long-time friend and former Straight Ahead, Rest In Pieces, Youth of Today and Agnostic Front bass player Craig Setari, who had replaced Rich Cipriano in early 1993.

The band received bad publicity in December 1992 when Wayne Lo, a prep-college student, shot and killed two people and wounded four others at the Bard College at Simon's Rock in Great Barrington, Massachusetts. Widely-circulated photos of him at his arrest showed him wearing a Sick of It All t-shirt. After being inundated with claims that they initiated violence at shows and through their music, the band defended themselves in the press (particularly The New York Times).
The fair success of Scratch the Surface allowed the band to tour worldwide. In 1997 they released their second record on the EastWest label, Built to Last. More punk-inspired than their previous effort, Built to Last produced a number of live staples for the band, including 'Us vs. Them', 'Busted' and 'Good Lookin' Out' . The album also marked the end of Sick of It All's contractual agreement with EastWest.

The Fat Wreck Chords Years (1998 to 2004)

In 1998, Sick of It All signed to independent record label Fat Wreck Chords, owned and run by Fat Mike of NOFX. After releasing the 'Potential For A Fall' single - for which another video was filmed, Call To Arms was released in February 1999.
The 2000 follow-up Yours Truly was less critically acclaimed. Despite containing some of the bands favored live tracks, including 'Blown Away', 'The Bland Within', 'District' and 'America', some fans felt alienated by the album's progressive nature and in a recent interview, frontman Lou Koller claimed that the album's cover art probably contributed to its poor reception.

In 2001, Sick of It All released their home video The Story So Far, and a year later a live record was released as part of Fat Wreck Chords' Live In A Dive series. The album showcased tracks from Sick of It All's entire career up to that point in time.
2003 saw Sick of It All release their seventh studio album: Life on the Ropes. In 2004, the band also released an album of b-sides, covers and rare tracks entitled Outtakes for the Outcast.

Recent activity and the future of the band (2005 to Present)

In early 2005, Sick of It All signed to Abacus Recordings to record the follow-up to Fat Wreck Chords' Life on the Ropes. The new album, titled Death to Tyrants, was released on April 18, 2006. The band has recently toured with AFI and The Dear & Departed in early 2007.

A tribute to the band, titled Our Impact Will Be Felt, was released on April 24, 2007, and includes covers from artists such as Bane, Bleeding Through, The Bouncing Souls, Comeback Kid, Hatebreed, Himsa, Madball, Most Precious Blood, Napalm Death, Pennywise, Rise Against, Sepultura, Stretch Arm Strong, Unearth, and Walls of Jericho.

Following a worldwide tour in support of Death to Tyrants, Sick of It All began working on new material for their next album. In an August 2009 interview with singer Lou Koller, he revealed that the band will begin recording their new album in November for a 2010 release.

WALLS OF JERICHO. NO ROCK STAR FANTASIES... THE REAL DEAL!

Support them!!! They have my utmost respect and gratitude. Photo By: Dirk Behlau

Band history:

Early career (1998 to2001)

Walls of Jericho were formed following the demise of two Detroit based bands. The first being the influential Earthmover, featuring members Mike Hasty (guitar) and Wes Keely (drums). The second was a band called Universal Stomp which Aaron Ruby (bass) played in. Both bands fizzled out at around the same time prompting the three friends to start a new band. At the same time Candace Kucsulain, 2 year singer for the band Apathemy auditioned with the band. After numerous other auditions for lead singer the band accepted Candace as their new frontwoman in September 1998. For the first few months the band would perform with friends of theirs filling in on guitar however later decided to ask close friend Chris Rawson, of local mosh core band its all gone to hell, in as full time member who was able to offer more commitment to the band. With the line-up complete the five piece began touring the local Detroit hardcore scene. Soon after in April 1999 the band released their first EP on 7 inch through label Underestimated, which was followed shortly thereafter by a CD EP containing that 7 inch and demo tracks, called A Day and a Thousand Years released on Florida based Eulogy Recordings. This was later released by European imprint Genet. After continuous touring in support of their EP releases, the band attracted the attention of both Ferret and Trustkill Records. They went on to sign with Trustkill which resulted in the December 1999 release of their debut full-length album The Bound Feed the Gagged. The band hit the touring and hardcore festival circuit the following year. In August of 2000 they began touring the United States in support of straight-edgers Earth Crisis, Swedish melodic death metal band In Flames, and Oakland, CA's metallic Skinlab. After another spate of touring in 2001, drummer Wes Keely announced he would be leaving the band to finish school in Seattle, Washington. With the band based in Detroit it would prove impossible for them to continue together. Keely was replaced by ex Suicide Machines drummer Derek Grant. Five months after touring with the band Grant announced he would be leaving to join Chicago punk rockers Alkaline Trio.

Break up (2001 to 2003)

After unsuccessful auditions to fill the vacant drummer position the band, feeling that none of the applicants met their criteria as a band member were forced into a hiatus. Shortly before this announcement was made singer Candace got herself an apprenticeship in body piercing which would occupy her free time over the next two years. Also during this time band members Mike, Aaron and Chris started a side project band called It's All Gone to Hell. For the next 2 years guitarist Mike Hasty would continue to work out of his recording studio Cloud City as an engineer working with bands such as the Black Dahlia Murder and Bloodlined Calligraphy.

Re-formation:

After a 2 year silence period the band would eventually see the vacant drummer slot filled by ex Catharsis member Alexei Rodriguez who called the band after returning from Germany. It was at the same time that Candace was on her way to audition for a local indie band when she received the call from Mike saying that WOJ were re-forming. In April 2003 the band began touring again playing major hardcore events such as Hellfest in Syracuse, NY. Complete with their new drummer the band began writing new material and had completed recording in September 2003. All Hail the Dead was released in February 2004, 5 years since the release of The Bound Feed the Gagged.
The album was released to critical acclaim across the hardcore/metal scene and propelled the band to the forefront of the hardcore scene seeing them fill support slots for bands such as Madball, Hatebreed and Sick of It All as well as headlining tours of their own. It wasn't long after the release that the band would see the loss of their third drummer. Fortunately for the band the position was filled relatively quickly by long time friend Dustin Schoenhofer - ex drummer for Next to Nothing and Premonitions of War.

The next two years would see WOJ touring extensively across the US and Europe gaining more and more support and a very loyal following along the way.

WHAT DOES AWB REPRESENT YOU ASK?
Posted on Oct 5
Angry White Boy is a term that I've been using for years. It was born out of both frustration and sarcasm.

The Frustration Aspect:

In my experiences it seems that a majority of people, from ALL WALKS OF LIFE... WHETHER IT'S WHITE, BLACK, HISPANIC, ASIAN, UPPER CLASS, MIDDLE CLASS OR FUCKIN' POOR, for the most part, either don't care, are too ignorant or are just too consumed by nonsense to realize what's going on. Whether it's the media, politics, religion, or the extremist ideology of being politically correct. All of the aforementioned issues tend to raise a lot of questions derived from being a skeptical person. Some may call it argumentative. I call it digging through the bullshit and refusing to accept the most popular or politically correct answer. People have grown to be WAY TOO SENSITIVE!!!
I FEEL THAT IF YOU'RE NOT FRUSTRATED, THEN YOU HAVEN'T THE SLIGHTEST FUCKING CLUE AS TO WHAT IS GOING ON AROUND YOU THAT ACTUALLY MEANS SOMETHING. OR THAT CAN BE DETRIMENTAL TO ALL OF US AS A NATION. From war, to feeding foreign countries before taking care of our own first. From working day in and day out, sometimes two jobs only to struggle and barely scrape by while falling deeper into debt, to bird-brain celebrities getting more news coverage than the men and women fighting and dying overseas.
I can easily rant on and on about September 11th 2001, broken borders, racial double standards, airport security, healthcare, cell phones, street slang ebonics (IT IS NOT RACIST TO CALL OUT EBONICS... IT'S MADE UP AND IGNORANT), "Reality TV" (WHO'S FUCKING REALITY IS IT!!?? NOT MINE... AND DEFINITELY NOT YOURS EITHER BUT YOU SALIVATE AND SIT AT THE EDGE OF YOUR WORN OUT COUCH FOR THE SEASON PREMIERE OF DANCING WITH THE FUCKING STARS AND AMERICAN IDOL!!!), shallow fashion trends that are taken way too seriously and the robotic population that simply accepts things for what they are and never question authority.

The Sarcasm Aspect:

I'm passionate about Hardcore music and have been since the late 1980's. I agree with what it TRULY stands for and have the utmost respect it for it's roots and DIY mentality. There is NO OTHER SCENE THAT HAS A MORE LOYAL FAN BASE THAN HARDCORE. NONE! For those who do not know what Hardcore is, it's a derivative of Punk Rock. I've been asked on many occasions what kind of music I listen to by people who have no clue.
After trying to educate them to no avail (most likely because while I was trying to describe it, the ignorant one's overrated Blackberry went off and the dunce had to return the meaningless text message like it was detrimental or the end of the world... then completely forgot what I was talking about in the first place) I tell them, sarcastically, that I listen to "Angry" music and allow them to figure it out for themselves. Interpret it how you will.

In the end, I'm just a guy with a big mouth, strong opinions and just a little pissed off. I'm angry. I'm white. I'm male. Simple. Angry White Boy. But don't get me wrong, if you know me, I'm not walking around pissed off and starting shit... certain shit pushes my buttons and I have the sack to open my fucking mouth about it unlike a lot of spineless robots out there just following the herd, going about their mundane existence while the world crumbles around them. But don't realize it because they are mourning the death of a junkie pedophile... why!? Because he did the moonwalk, sang Billy Jean and wore a goddamn oven mitt on one hand. And we wonder why this great country is circling the fucking drain. The media runs the lives of the majority of the mainstream population. Everyone needs to wake up and start opening your mouths!!! Voice your UN-sugar-coated opinion!!!

THE UNFORTUNATE EVOLUTION OF CBGB'S
Posted on Apr 10
For those of you who are native New Yorkers, or for that matter, into NYHC, you most likely have somewhat of a connection or great memories of CBGB's. I know that I do and whenever I dwell on the fact that it really is gone, I have to admit, it bothers me.

The club was the birthplace of Punk Rock and Hardcore. A small dirty club that had an awesome sound system. You were allowed to enter the club with a can of spray paint and write graffiti on the walls without the owner or bouncers even looking at you twice. The walls were littered with decades of flyers caked on top of one another, even the ceiling.

Hilly Kristal opened the club in 1973. The club was shut down in 2006. Hilly died shortly after. You know what they say... People die shortly after their wife or loved one does. Well, this was no exception. Hilly, Rest in Peace.

He is probably rolling over in his grave right now. I recently went into Manhattan and was on the L.E.S. I decided to visit the old club, or at least see what it has become. Once I got to the corner of Bleecker and the Bowery and looked across the street at my old favorite dive, I got nauseous. Not only is there a huge CitiBank next door to it now and all of the trendy, yuppie fuckin' cafe's... but the new owners of that building has turned the old club into something even more repulsive. It's now a trendy clothing and "vintage" music store. They sell $150 belts and stupid fuckin' art books and shit. They made it into a fuckin' tourist trap. They encased some of the flyers on the walls in glass like it's a fuckin' museum. They even kept the same shape to the awning. Next door, instead of being the CBGB Gallery, it's the Morrison Hotel Art Gallery.I asked the doorman...YES...THE DOORMAN!!! If I can take a picture inside... He simply said, "No one can take pictures." I replied, "What's the matter, you won't let me take a picture of what this place has become!!??" He just giggled under his breath sarcastically. I walked out. I was upset and fuckin' furious!!! Below are some chronological pics of the club from the early days up until about a week ago. Sad. I hope the building burns to the fuckin' ground! At least the soul of the old club will be at ease and can Rest in Peace.
